November 17th is a game changer

November 17th 2025, the day before November 18th when Companies House require people to start to be ID checked has already had 2800 companies formed by 12 noon. Based on that rate, it could be a 5000+ day today. It will be interesting to see how much of a drop there is with company formations following the introduction of ID Checks. The aim is obviously to reduce the fraudulent creation of newly formed companies, where unscrupulous people register companies with Companies House using someone else's address as their registered office, and maybe even fake names of directors. Just prior to Companies House increasing their prices five fold in May 2024 there was a massive upsurge in formations as people tried to take advantage of the lower costs before the increase. I think we were close to hitting 100,000 companies in a month prior to that. This obviously wont have quite the same effect but from tomorrow you are meant to have ID Checks, even if using Companies House directly so this should have a major impact on fraudulent companies being formed
